"Hate is baggage... life's too short to be pissed off all the time... its just not worth it."- American History X
This was a weekend that had a lot of dogs. We had a lot of company over for Jess's graduation including my cousin Isra and his wife. Everyone was gone most of the day Saturday for the graduation, so I woke up early, had a run and then it started to rain so I decided to take a nap to catch up on sleep I missed during the week. I know it doesn't exactly work that way with sleep, but I'd like to think that it does. It was a restful start to the day I think.
I waited the entire day for everyone to get back so that I could hopefully join them downtown to celebrate and to spend some time with Isra and his wife. Well, once they got back from dinner, they opted to stay in instead. I kept my own plans and went out and had a few drinks with a friend of mine. When I got back, Isra was just going to sleep, and I told him that it sucked that I didn't get to visit with him while they were up. He got up and said we should drink then. So we did. It was pretty cool, we had some drinks from our re-stocked bar and caught up. It was very late and dark and we tried not to wake others up, but I'm glad we did get our chance to hang out even though it wasn't what I expected.
I was watching Bill Maher this weekend and I heard this argument about how people could protest the criminalization of non-violent drug offenses by always voting to acquit on juries. The theory is that the jury nullification will help Congress make the changes needed for a more effective drug policy. I don't know if I agree with the idea, but I would of never thought of it. I wonder if I were on a jury and I had to weigh the facts pertaining to an unjust law if I would be able to make that kind of decision. There is a slippery slope here I'm thinking, but I haven't really thought about this enough.
Real Time - New Rules 5/15/09 - These were really good I think, especially the right wing icon part, and his commencement speech for graduates.

This is pretty messed up if you ask me. I didn't even know this was possible. And it has to be in Texas.
science was always my favorite subject, especially the Old Testament
