Thursday morning I woke up and got ready for class knowing that today was going to be a big rush. I talked to my professors about the absence situation, and well I got very circular explanations. My professor said it was an admin issue and to talk to the Monsignor and the Monsignor said that whatever my professor said was fine. So I’ll take that as “don’t worry about it.” I attended my two classes and left a bit early in my second class. My left eye is really bothering me and I think I have an eye infection. I have been very blessed in my life to where I haven’t had many. I wear the same contacts for months upon months more than I should yet still no infection. This infection, I got when not wearing my contacts, but now I must wear glasses until it gets better. You can’t see anything wrong, but it hurts like no other when I blink.
So let me tell you the plan again for the Rome trip. We leave Thursday to Madrid and catch a flight to Rome. We sleep there and take a train to Florence Friday and then to Venice Saturday, back to Rome on Sunday and flying back to Madrid on Monday. Now that you have the short version, let’s get into the long version.
NOT SO FAST. LOL. So there was a pretty funny mix-up. I leave class, run and get my laundry, pay the travel agent for the extra day in Paris and then get all our bags and rush to the bus station. Well the first mix-up is that we find out our flight is at 4:10pm not 3:10pm. This really helped, but it was not the significant mix-up. I had this weird feeling, so I checked the tickets and notice a 17th, but from that morning I remember putting 16th on my notes. We check and double check and then looking at a calendar notice that the flight is for Friday not Thursday. Note that we are on a bus to Madrid. We then jump off at the next stop and catch a bus back to El Escorial. I was kind of happy because I was not ready to take off on such a long trip. It was very embarrassing though, but we honestly thought it was Thursday, maybe because we switched plans so often, we just forgot.
We then have lunch at this hamburger place and then I took a great nap. I wake up to go horseback riding, but the place was closed. Instead, I went to get ice cream and use the internet. Sarah Beth, Bianca hung out outside and had a few drinks prior to dinner. We then went to eat at this Italian restaurant where it seemed like everyone from our program was eating. The food was good and I had a few more beers. It was a nice and relaxing evening. At night I tried to watch Star Wars Episode III a guy had on dvd, but it didn’t work on my laptop.
