Un Cafe Con Sal

"I was only married to your mother for 22 months before she passed away...it was enough to fill a lifetime." - Cold Mountain

Friday night I went to see "La Oreja de Van Gogh" in concert. I went with Angie, her sister Vannia, and Vannia's two friends. It was at a club/outdoor stage called La Covacha. It was very Miami to say the least. When Angie and I get to the concert, I see a familiar face in line. It takes me two seconds to figure it out, but then I'm like "Hey! Vannessa!" I saw my friend Vannessa from Cornell. She used to play volleyball and was in ILR with me. We went to Cosep before freshman year together and I knew she was from Miami, but haven't talked to her since college. She had to do a double take to recognize me, but is doing well working in Miami. It is a small world.

When we get inside, La Oreja was already playing. It was a pretty sweet setup with the stage outdoors. The weather was perfect because we got a cold front, so there was a nice breeze. I spent the last week listening to their cds while I studied, so they were somewhat my theme music of my exams, so it was awesome seeing them in concert to puncuate this week. They did great. I got to hear every song I wanted to hear. The lead singer is so very talented and she isn't the stereotypical female lead singer. I wish I understood the lyrics better though. Along with spanish, now Angie has to teach me how to dance salsa. I tried my best, but I have so much more to learn. I had a really great time.

I purchased FIFA Soccer 2005 and Madden 2005 on PS2. This should prove to be a great distraction from law school, as if I don't need anymore.

Today is Herbert and Juan Carlos' birthday. Herbert turns 24 years old and Juan turns 25. Becuase today represents 50% of our groups bdays, it always tends to have a large celebration. This year Herbert is celebrating in LA, enjoying a night that ended in his driver getting pulled over for a DUI leaving Herbert stranded in some gas station trying to find his way home in the wee hours of his birthday. What kind of birthday would it be without any drama. Juan and Jorge are celebrating in NYC, while I once again am missing the festivities. I hope they have a great day and maybe next year we will all be able to get together for this celebration.
